slaked lime
slaked lime, commonly known as calcium hydroxide,is an inorganic strong alkaline compound widely used in fields such as construction, environmental protection, food, and medicine. At room temperature,it is a white powdery solid with a density of about 2.24g/cm³.It is insoluble in water and releases a large amount of heat when dissolved in acid. Its saturated aqueous solution is strongly alkaline, and when exposed to air,it absorbs carbon dioxide to produce calcium carbonate, causing the solution to become turbid.
The reaction releases heat, generating loose powder like calcium hydroxide.Laboratory preparation:Calcium salt reacts with strong alkali to obtain calcium hydroxide precipitate through double decomposition reaction, which can be obtained after filtration and drying.

slaked lime is used as a binding material:mixed with water and sand to make mortar, used for building walls or plastering walls.Production of cement:Calcination with clay, silicate, etc.to produce calcium silicate, which is one of the main components of cement.
Food acidity regulator:Soak fruits and vegetables to maintain brittleness,or use for processing traditional foods.Dental treatment:Inhibiting bacterial growth and promoting dentin re calcification during root canal filling.
